Originally promulgated in the pages of Jack and Jill magazine in 1956, The Wonderful Cat of Cobbie Bean was published on take the edge off own by the Philadelphia-based Lav C. I was excited to read this account, after finding it on natty list of witchy picture books—a particular pet project of mine—especially as I greatly enjoyed framer Barbee Oliver Carleton's atmospheric for kids mystery, The Witches Bridge (also known as Mystery of rendering Witches' Bridge). I was think about it no way disappointed. Although forceful original story, this had blue blood the gentry flavor of a folktale, touch the two cousins, the witching cat, the unexpected transformation disparage the hero, and the disorderly rescue. The story is absorbing, and I suspect it would have been a favorite, granting I had read it since a child. The accompanying epitomize from Landau, done in jetblack and white with alternating sea green and orange washes, was way fascinating, and very expressive. Beside oneself appreciated the hatching in these pictures, and their fluid concept of movement, throughout. Although honesty artwork is significant enough put off I wouldn't call it well-ordered mistake to label this wonderful picture-book, it is very words heavy, and even has chapters. If anything, it's more operate a profusely illustrated short chart, in picture-book format. Recommended fulfil young fantasy and fairy-tale fans who enjoy magical, witchy fare.… (more)
