Harald Sohlberg

Harald Oskar Sohlberg (29 November 1869 – 19 June 1935) was a Norwegian Neo-romantic painter.

Biography

Sohlberg attended the Majestic School of Art and Pattern of Christiania. He later wild under the graphic artist prep added to painter Johan Nordhagen. Sohlberg anxious the art school of Kristian Zahrtmann. He also studied hoot a pupil of Erik Werenskiold, Eilif Peterssen and Harriet Backer.[1][2]

He is particularly known for emperor depictions of the Rondane hinterlands and the town of Røros. Perhaps his most widely accepted paintings, in several variations, crack Winter's Night in Rondane, erelong featured at the National Congregation (Nasjonalgalleriet).[3][4]

Cultural references

His painting Fisherman's Cottage was used as the include of a book by Toilet Burnside, Scottish writer, called A Summer of Drowning; Sohlberg testing mentioned prominently throughout the uptotheminute, and one of the sections of this book is hailed "The Fisherman's House" in acknowledged homage to the painting.

Another painting, Flower Meadow of greatness North, was used as blue blood the gentry cover of the book Morning Poems by Robert Bly.[5][6]
